Background
Editorial
Services, LLC was formed by Jackie Callahan Parente in 1996,
and provides a full range of writing, editorial, project management, and
technical communication services to businesses and individuals. Her extensive
background in communications, writing, editing, business, and technology forms
the foundation for her company's services. She worked for over ten years as both
an employee and an independent contractor for a major insurance company. She
served as both editor and managing editor for a national publishing
company for over a decade. As editor, her language skills received a
constant workout as she converted rough manuscripts to final text. While wearing
the managing editor's hat, she brought together the editorial, design, and
production aspects of a publication and saw it printed accurately, attractively,
on time, and within budget.
As owner and manager of Editorial Services, LLC, she has been involved in such
projects as editor for two volumes published by Taunton Press,
Smart Business for
Contractors by Jim Kramon and
Running a
Successful Construction Company by David Gerstel. She has been editor for four years
of a quarterly optometric newsletter (Walmart OD News, Costco OD News,
and other retail newsletters) published by VISTAKON®, Division of Johnson &
Johnson Vision Care, Inc, and developed multiple user guides, training guides,
and Help systems for ADP® Time and Labor Management Systems.
She is currently
writing a new book for
BowTie Press, Inc.
on Canning and Preserving for their Hobby Home Farm series, editing a new book
by David Gerstel titled Crafting the Considerate House, and writing a biography of the late
Joshua Lederberg, the Nobel-Prize-winning geneticist and polymath best known
for his discovery of genetic recombination in bacteria. She is also the author
of the popular local food/gardening blog,
Raspberries,
Rabbits, Rutabagas, where she offers "ruminations from a suburban locavore."
While personally involved with each
client, she has the flexibility of working closely with a select staff and
editorial/design associates to provide the highest quality work at a competitive
price. Editorial Services, LLC is located in central Connecticut, but through
use of latest communications technology, our office is as near as your phone or
computer. We serve clients across the country, and across the world.
